Heart-Shaped Pizza recipe:
Pizza Dough
Makes 1 large pie or 2 smaller personal pies
- 1 package of dry active yeast
- 1 Cup of lukewarm water
- 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt
- 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
- 3 1/4 Cups all purpose flour
Directions: In a large bowl sprinkle yeast over water and let stand until yeast softens – about 5 mins or so. Then stir in salt & olive oil. Add 2 cups of the flour mix to blend with stand mixer or heavy duty wooden spoon until dough is elastic about 5 mins. Add in 3/4 cup more and continue to mix to a soft dough.Turn dough out onto a a floured work surface and knead dough to incorporate the remaining flour.
Continue to knead dough until smooth & springy.Place in a grease bowl and cover bowl with plastic wrap and then a clean dish cloth. Let dough stand in a dark warm spot until dough is doubled in size – at least an hour – When dough has doubled in size, turn put onto floured surface.Punch out dough with lightly floured hands and stretch out dough. Shape into heart and cut away at edges if need be to achieve heart shape.
Place stretched out dough into lightly oiled pizza pan then cover with dish cloth and save in warm place in the kitchen allow dough to rest & “proof” again.Which means rise & become spongy. Pre heat oven to 400 -450 F depending on your oven When dough has proofed a bit more. Top with your favorite marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, and sliced Italian long hot peppers.
Dust with a little parmigiano reggiano cheese – brush crust edge with a bit of olive oil & bake pizza u til dough is golden and cheese has melted
When done dust with more Parmesan cheese & drizzle with olive oil.
Serve & enjoy
